God the Mother
God, who is the maker and designer of everything seen and unseen, did not aimlessly create the earth and its ecological systems; God created life on earth with purpose and intention. And it’s not an understatement to say that God’s creation work was carefully thought-out (Rev. 4:11). The World Mission Society Church of God believes in the existence of God the Mother as seen through God’s own work of creation.
Not only did God create the earth but also heaven. And although, we cannot perceive the kingdom of heaven with our physical eyes, as Christians who want to dwell there eternally, we should try to understand the systems that exist in heaven. To facilitate that for us, God left us the Bible.
Many of the systems that exist on this earth are a copy and shadow of what is in heaven. One example of this is the sanctuary.
They serve at a sanctuary that is a copy and shadow of what is in heaven.
In the Old Testament, God commanded Moses to build a sanctuary for worship. And God specifically told Moses to make it look the same as the sanctuary that already existed in heaven. Because the human eye cannot see the sanctuary in heaven, God gave Moses this instruction so we could understand the heavenly sanctuary.
This same principle applies to the family structure on the earth. Just as there is the physical family, is there also a heavenly family.
God the Father Exists
Biologically, when we look at the structure of a family on the earth, it consists of a father, mother, and child or children. This is because it is the same for the heavenly family. In heaven, there is God the Father, God the Mother and the children of God.
Not only does God’s creation testify to this fact, but God gives us proof through the Bible.
Since we respected our earthly fathers who disciplined us, shouldn’t we submit even more to the discipline of the Father of our spirits, and live forever?
Hebrews 12:9 (NLT)
Certainly, every single person on earth has a human father. And it is written that, in the same way, we have a spiritual Father, who grants our spirit eternal life—that is, God. Jesus Christ also emphasized this when He taught His followers to pray.
“Pray like this: ‘Our Father in heaven, may your name be kept holy.’”
Matthew 6:9 (NLT)
Jesus taught us to pray to our Father in heaven. Through this teaching, not only did Jesus teach us how to pray, but, most importantly, He let us understand the relationship between God and us is that of a Father and children. Through this, we know of the existence of our Heavenly Father. Our physical fathers serve as copies so we may understand that, in heaven, we have our Heavenly Father, who gives us eternal life.
Furthermore, the word “father” implies that a man has children. On this earth, there are children—brothers and sisters, sons and daughters. They, too, serve as a copy and shadow of what is in heaven. If there are earthly children, there are also heavenly children. In heaven, we have spiritual brothers and sisters who are children of God the Father.
And, “I will be a Father to you, and you will be my sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty.”
2 Corinthians 6:18
God Himself testifies that He is our Father, and He said that we are His sons and daughters. Here, God refers to the children of God. This shows that there are heavenly children.
God the Mother in the Family Structure
A family does not consist of only a father and children. If there are children, there must be a mother who gave birth to them. Just as every person living on earth has a father, they undeniably must also have a mother. In fact, it is impossible for life to exist without mothers. It is the same with eternal life. Mothers, too, are a representation of God the Mother.
But the heavenly Jerusalem, which is above, is like the free woman. She is our mother.
Galatians 4:26 (NCV)
The Heavenly Jerusalem Apostle Paul refers to in the book of Galatians is our Heavenly Mother—God the Mother. Our physical mothers give us physical life, but the one who gives us eternal life is Heavenly Mother.
Those who believe in God and the Scriptures can accept the existence of God the Mother, just as Apostle Paul preached to the Early Church. These are the ones who can enter the kingdom of heaven because they receive eternal life from both God the Father and God the Mother. Just as there is no physical life without our mothers, without God the Mother, eternal life is beyond the bounds of possibility. She is the only one who can give our spirit life.
God the Mother Gives Us Life
Knowing the structure of the heavenly family is just the beginning of us understanding God who allows us to enter the kingdom of heaven. It is especially important to understand how to receive life from God the Father and God the Mother.
Physical families are related by blood. Through their DNA, parents can confirm the biological relationship with their children and children their parents. Children who do not share the same DNA as their father and mother cannot say they are related.
It is the same in the heavenly family system. The system on this earth is a copy of the system in heaven. To be able to say we are children of God the Father and God the Mother, we must share their same blood. Without God’s blood, we have no relationship with the heavenly family. And to allow us to become God’s children, God established a feast through which They give us Their flesh and blood.
They went off to the city and found everything just as Jesus had said, and they prepared the Passover meal there. . . . After supper he took another cup of wine and said, “This cup is the new covenant between God and his people—an agreement confirmed with my blood, which is poured out as a sacrifice for you.”
Luke 22:13-20 (NLT)
Through the Passover, God gives us His blood. By partaking in the Passover, we can have God’s blood inside of us, and therefore, be a heavenly child of God the Father and God the Mother. Through the Passover, God gives us the right to call God “our Father” and “our Mother.”
Not only do we become children of God the Father and God the Mother through the Passover, but we also become Their heir, who can inherit the kingdom of heaven (Ro 8:16-18).
The World Mission Society Church of God believes in God the Father and God the Mother and celebrates the Passover Jesus Christ established, which allows us to become heavenly children.
